North American revelers welcome 2018A frigid North America closed out the world's New Year celebrations late Sunday, after a chilly Europe followed Asia and Australasia in nursing a January 1 hangover. In New York's Times Square, around two million people dressed in thick coats and snow gear faced the coldest New Year's Eve in a century as temperatures dropped to nine degrees Fahrenheit (minus 12.7 Celsius).
