Taliban deal would satisfy Trump but poses risksThe United States and the Taliban appear closer than ever to a peace deal, but fears are mounting that President Donald Trump could accept a quick accord that pours fuel on -- rather than douses -- Afghanistan's war. Negotiator Zalmay Khalilzad, a key player in George W. Bush's administration when the United States first invaded Afghanistan after the September 11, 2001 attacks, said he sealed the outlines of a peace deal after six days of talks with the Taliban in Qatar.
